Each month we will spotlight a native artist, athlete, scholar or community leader. This month's spotlight falls on Ross Anderson, one of the 25 fastest skiers in the entire world. Ross is Cheyenne/Arapaho and Mescalero-Apache. Anderson has been clocked at 137.86 mph!

Ross has been featured in televised news features on CNN, in news stories in national and international magazines such as Native Peoples, Eurosport, Cheyenne/Arapaho bulletin, and the French Le Dauphine, and several local and state publications. Ross's Native American identity is unique in the world of skiing and brings a distinctive flare to any sport or media event at which he is present.

He can currently be seen in the 1998/99 Warren Miller feature "Freeriders." Ross recently signed with Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado and as their on-hill ski celebrity has represented Purgatory at the Albuquerque Journal Winterfeast 99 and the Payless Cashways trade show in Kansas City that also featured sports celebrities such as NASCAR Champion Bill Elliot, Soccer Star Wes Wade, and Olympic Gold Medalist Deb Armstrong.
