An unusual sculpture by Jim Albert, Navajo.   It is made of Tennessee soapstone and measures 13 x 12 x 5 inches.   His mother entitled it Bitaani (difficult to translate but ‘fruit’ comes closest) as it represents the work by the late great Navajo leader, Annie Wauneka in fighting tuberculosis.   The healthy young Navajo woman emerges from stylized lungs that represent the health of the Navajo people.   $1500.

Three wonderful bronzes by the Hopi sculptress Evelyn Fredericks.   She grew up at Kykotsmovi Village on Third Mesa, born into the Reed/Bacavi Clan. While working in 1973 as the Fine Arts Librarian the Institue of American Indian Art in Santa Fe she began studying stone carving under Doug Hyde.
